The Golden Era of the Gibson Thinlines |
Here we have a spectacular vintage blonde ES-335 with a flamey 2-piece top. I have never seen another quite like it. We have seveeral examples of 2-piece tops from later years. It was done fairly often in 1961, but I have never seen one this early, nor on a blonde. Quite remarkable, really.
This one has been played a bit over the years. You can see some buckle wear on the back. And there is some wear on the neck as well, but is not shown in any of these photos.
This particular guitar also has a somewhat slimmer neck than is usual for 1959 and comes courtesy of my friiend Joe Menza in New York City.
