This is an exceptionally rare guitar, courtesy of Nino Fazio of www.realvintage.it in Sicily, Italy. Ciao, Nino.
It is one of only four documented vintage ES-355s from the 1958-60 period with original stop-bar tailpiece instead of Bigsby, listed by serial number in Duchossoir's Gibson Electrics - The Classic Years. The FON is S1144 10, meaning that construction was begun in 1959. Long pickguard in bound tortoise plastic, two PAF pickups, Grover Rotomatic tuners, gold hardware, multi-ply binding, ebony fretboard with mother-of-pearl blocks, stereo-Varitone circuitry. Cherry red finish in great conditions, with original brown case, pickup and tune-o-matic instruction sheets, original stereo cable, etc. Mahogany neck with a rounded '59 profile, not flat like a late '60 neck (the guitar has a '59 factory order number).
Spectacular guitar, Nino. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
